Born and raised in Brooklyn, I am a fourth year in the M.Div./MSW program at Union Theological Seminary and Columbia University School of Social Work. After earning my B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in African-American Studies from Penn State University, I completed a year of service with AmeriCorps and worked in New York City’s non-profit sector. In the summer of 2008 I served as a Beatitudes Society Fellow at Sojourners in the Policy and Organizing Department.

Most recently I had the fabulous experience of being a student in the Women’s Campaign School at Yale and spoke at the 2009 Alumni Seminar for the 7 Sister Schools on Building a Movement to End Poverty. I organize with The Poverty Initiative and NY Faith & Justice. A freelance writer on faith and politics I am contributing writer for Sojourners Magazine, Wrecked for the Ordinary, Conspire!, The Black Commentator and my blogs can be found on Ecumenical Women at The United Nations Faithful Democrats, God’s Politics and The Beatitudes Society website.

I am a proud member of Alpha Nu Omega Christian Sorority, Inc. and served as Dean Alston to 5 Amazing Women of God SP 2003 5 Points of Grace.

A native of East New York, Brooklyn I will return to create a faith-based community organizing and development non-profit. With a passion for the inner-city I truly believe that the Gospel is “good news to the poor” and will humbly work to proclaim this message in my community.

On a lighter note I have four brothers and one sister who I love dearly. I enjoy purple the color and the book, the guilty pleasure of reality tv, music: rap, R & B, neo-soul, gospel, contemporary christian, indie-rock, classical, and almost anything except punk or heavy metal. I LOVE reading especially: Erich Segal (R.I.P.), Zora, The Blacker The Berry, The Chocolate War, A Separate Peace & John Knowles in general, and countless others to numerous to name. I am naturally curious and love to learn, meet new people and experience new things. I enjoy decorating my space, visiting museums, eating out with friends and sunny days. I LOVE TO LAUGH, I LOVE TO CRY. Since September 29, 1996 by the grace of God I have been learning how to live in joy and freedom. I greatly admire those who triumphed over adverse circumstances to live a life of healing, love and laughter-that is a true miracle to me.

    Hello again,

I hope I’m not been too pushy, but time is running out and I will need to find an alternative if I can’t get permission soon (my deadline in February 1st).
As I said before, I am working on a Powerpoint presentation for a university course, and would like to use the Monster Mensch (Madoff) picture on your blog

Where would I get permission for use of that image? The presentation would be posted on the university department’s website.

    Thank you,
